Choosing Joy While Grieving: Making Room for Peace
Happy Saturday!
Welcome in, friend, to Chosen Princess Chronicles!
I'm so glad you decided to spend a little time with me today. Before we get into today's conversation, I want you to take a moment and check in with yourself.
How are you really feeling today?
Not the answer you give everyone else, but the answer that comes from your heart.
Here at Chosen Princess Chronicles, I want you to know that you have a space where you can show up just as you are. No judgment, no pressure, and no pretending. Just honesty, love, and light.
Today, I want to talk about something that many of us experience but don't always know how to express: grief, healing, and learning to make room for joy even when life doesn't look the way we imagined.
So, let's have a real conversation.
To be honest, I haven't been writing on my blog in a very long time. Today, I decided to pick up my words again, and it feels so good to be back!
If I had to rate myself today, I would give myself a 7 out of 10.
Why a 7? Because healing is a journey, and every day doesn't look the same.
Today is my mom's birthday. I lost my mom when I was just ten years old. If you have been following my journey, you may already know a little about my story. If you want to know more about my experience, I invite you to read my previous post, "More Than a Month: Living Through It, Healing Beyond It."
I miss my mom so much. Some days are harder than others, especially days like today. But I've learned that grief comes in many forms. It's not just about losing a loved one. It can also come from losing a friend, a mentor, a job, or something that meant so much to you.
Recently, my job contract ended. And honestly, it wasn't just a job to me. It was my purpose. Helping others comes naturally to me, and I love being able to make a difference in someone's life.
But even through the changes, the losses, and the uncertainty of not knowing what my next chapter will look like, I'm learning to give myself permission to experience joy.
Today was one of those days!
I got out of the house and went to brunch with my new friends, my sisters! Shout-out to these amazing women for welcoming me into their space and taking the time to spend with me. Sometimes, you need that reminder that there is still life happening outside your four walls.
I met these amazing women through Jobs for Life, and I'm grateful for the connections I'm making along the way.
I could have stayed home, but today I chose to get out, connect, laugh, and enjoy the moment.
And you know what? That's part of healing, too.
I can miss my mom and still smile. I can have difficult days and still experience beautiful moments. I can grieve what I've lost while remaining thankful for the people and opportunities God places in my life.
I honor my mom, and I love her. I know she is smiling down from heaven.
I don't know what my next chapter will look like, but I know I'm not where I used to be. Grieving is a process, and I'm learning that I don't have to have everything figured out.
I'm choosing peace through grief. I'm choosing to trust God and the process. Most importantly, I'm giving myself grace along the way.
A Little Reminder to Take with You
Healing doesn't mean you stop missing what you've lost. It means you learn to make room for joy while carrying the memories.
Your Journal Reflection
Take a moment for yourself. Find a quiet space, grab your journal, and allow yourself to be honest.
- Is there something or someone in my life that I am still grieving, even if I haven't acknowledged it?
- Have I been keeping myself busy to avoid feelings that I haven't allowed myself to process?
- Am I giving myself permission to feel what I feel without judging myself?
- What does choosing peace look like for me in this season of my life?
Remember, grief doesn't always announce itself. Sometimes it shows up as sadness, frustration, exhaustion, changes in our lives, or feelings we can't quite explain.
You don't have to force yourself to accept everything today. Give yourself grace. Healing takes time, and your feelings deserve to be acknowledged.
Thank you for spending a little time with me today and for welcoming me into your space here at Chosen Princess Chronicles.
I hope you take a moment to read my other posts and continue this journey with me.
Until next time, keep choosing love, light, and peace.
With love,
Chosen Princess 🦋
